“Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy” (Lev. 19:2; quoted in 1 Peter 1:16). One of the outstanding qualities, or attributes, of God is His holiness. Not only is He holy, however; He also desires that we, whom He has created in His image, should be holy. The work of God by which He makes us holy we call sanctification. We may define sanctification as that gracious operation of the Holy Spirit, involving our responsible participation, by which He delivers us as justified sinners
